PA Virtual is an innovative K-12 cyber school in Lehigh County that offers home-based, public education (tuition-free*). We care about our students, and we want to see them achieve academic success. Our teachers and support staff partner with families to provide personalized learning for each student. We believe that involving parents in their child’s education is a key part of our school model. Additionally, our teachers offer one-on-one educational support that will help foster your child’s growth.
*As a public school, PA Virtual is funded by Pennsylvania Taxpayer dollars.
We allow students to work at their own pace, so they won’t be comparing themselves to the other kids in their class. Our customized education helps boost a child’s self-confidence because they won’t be worrying about falling behind their classmates or working too far ahead and becoming bored. And, depending on your child's needs, we can provide structure or more flexibility for them. PA Virtual plans every Friday as an asynchronous day in which all students work independently with the guidance of their Learning Coach. The great thing about online education is that it allows children to complete their schoolwork efficiently. They get the time back that would normally be taken up by homework and busing to and from a brick-and-mortar school. By staying in the comfort of their own home, children can get the same schoolwork done in less time.
Our Lehigh County cyber school requires that a primary responsible adult – called the Learning Coach – is at home with the student during the day to monitor student progress and assist them in meeting school requirements. There will still be a teacher that provides lessons, feedback, and instruction. Plus, we provide the Learning Coach with the supports needed to manage their child's academic schedule. Our orientation guides you through all of our procedures and tools, and we also offer a one-on-one parent mentoring program. We really believe in taking a team approach to online education.
Flexibility
PA Virtual delivers instruction via synchronous and asynchronous classes. Students can attend live classes (synchronous) or work in a self-directed environment supervised by a dedicated teacher (asynchronous).
A Safe Learning Environment
Students attend class from the comfort and convenience of their own home, at no cost to the parent.
An Educational Partnership
Our students have the support and guidance of certified teachers and principals as well as their parent/Learning Coach at home.
Engaging Curriculum
PA Virtual partners with K12, Inc. to deliver a rich and stimulating curriculum for all grade levels.
Socialization Opportunities
PA Virtual hosts numerous field trips each month across Pennsylvania, in addition to offering various student clubs and service learning opportunities.
Award-winning Support
Our school offers comprehensive services for your family including: Guidance Counselors, Family Support Coordinators, Pupil Health, and Parent Engagement services.
Due to the nature of our model, children will need to use a significant amount of technology to attend school. However, we ensure there are more than enough breaks throughout the school day so children have time away from the computer screen. This allows students to move around a little and get outside to enjoy the fresh air. Our curriculum also includes hands-on work, like art projects, science experiments, and workbook pages. As long as your family’s schedule permits for it, students can attend scheduled outings in their local area. Additionally, our local virtual school offers a number of socialization opportunities, including field trips, volunteer opportunities, and a wide variety of student clubs.
Problems like bullying, gossip, and peer pressure can cause your child to have a negative experience at their brick-and-mortar school. This may be exactly why you’re considering our online charter school. Because our education is based in the home, parents/guardians have more control over their child’s environment. You can create a space that is physically and emotionally safe for your child to learn and develop in. So, if you're trying to find a cyber school near Lehigh County, reach out to us today.
